CalStore

CalStore is a 10% liquid calcium carried in a fermented molasses base.  The analysis is 0-0-0-10Ca.  This combination of components ensures a good uptake of calcium whether soil applied for root uptake, or applied as a foliar.

The need for calcium in fruiting crops and greens often exceeds what is available in soil and potting media.  This can lead to Blossom End Rot (BER) in tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini and tip curling and marginal edge burn in leafy greens.  Even crops grown in soils with ‘sufficient’ calcium can experience deficiencies under stress conditions.  Regular foliar applications of CalStore to the crops in question will greatly aid in the reduction of disorders such as BER and Marginal Edge Burn.  The fermented molasses base enhances uptake of the calcium and provides additional fuel to soil dwelling microorganisms that aid in the movement of minerals into plant roots.  Application rates will vary based upon application methods and individual levels of calcium deficiency.  If using to cover soil calcium, it is recommended to apply one gallon per acre, per 500 pounds of recommended calcium carbonate.  CalStore may be applied as either a broadcast or banded surface application, or added to a liquid nitrogen 2X2 placement.  (Before mixing with phosphate fertilizers, perform a jar test to determine compatibility.)

It may also be applied as part of a foliar application, either alone or as part of a solution with nutrient and/or crop protection chemistries.  Rates will range from 32 ounces per acre to one gallon per acre.

General Recommendation

CalStore is a formulation of important sugars and organic acids complexed with a proprietary blend of calcium compounds designed to effectively stimulate plant metabolism.  It is easy and economical to use; is non-corrosive to equipment; can be mixed with herbicides; applied to either soil or plant foliage.  It makes an excellent, low-cost option of supplying calcium for rented acreage where liming is not economically.

Soil Application: For each 500 pounds of calcium carbonate required by soil analysis, use one gallon of CalStore.

Organic Application: CalStore is allowed for organic use as a foliar application only, where a known deficiency is an issue.  A tissue analysis or plant SAP analysis will verify whether a deficiency is present, or as recommended by your crop consultant.

CalStore makes an excellent companion to liquid ammonium fertilizers (28-0-0) and is recommended at 1 gallon to each 20 gallons of applied solution.
