Our soluble plant foods represent the ultimate in nutrient purity and quality with most components being technical or food grade, and as a result are very eco-friendly when used as directed.  They all contain not only varying amounts of the key macronutrients, but also significant levels of essential secondary and micronutrients.  These micros are all at levels that should sustain a growing crop, even in soils that are somewhat deficient in one or more minerals.  Each product is uniquely formulated to perform a specific task within the plant, examples being to set high fruit numbers; provide high mineral level for optimum flavor and nutritional content; to encourage more vigorous vegetative development during periods of low sunlight or cool temperatures.

Although utilized primarily in fruit and vegetable production, growers have seen good success when using ISP plant foods on alfalfa, cotton, corn beans, and other field crops.  An example of this is illustrated in the graph at right.  Although the data is somewhat dated based upon today’s genetic capability with cotton, it does illustrate the ability of foliar applied plant food to enhance both boll set and maturation.

Many growers also use the ISP plant foods to set high yield potential on corn and other row crops, placing the solution directly in the seed furrow at planting.  Yield potential is set very early in a plants life, and this added nutrient ensures a strong start with your seedlings thus setting the stage for an outstanding crop.

With the exception of many of the produce crops, ISP plant foods are not designed to provide a significant portion of the necessary fertility.  The majority of bulk fertilizer requirements should be applied as indicated from either a current soil analysis or from known fertilizer needs.  The ISP plant foods provide a complete nutritional package, applied at important stress stages, such as boll set on cotton; pod set or pod fill with soybeans; maintaining crown vigor on alfalfa, and encouraging the plant to initiate vegetive growth faster; ear length or ear fill on corn and sorghum.  These are all points in the season where earlier determined yield potential can be lost or reduced.

Benefits:

– extremely high solubility for immediate plant use

– significant percentages of all the recognized and essential trace minerals

– manipulates internal plant physiology to direct plant energies to specific goals, I.E. setting fruit, uniformity of fruit size

– aids in reducing plant stress

– increase yield and fruit quality

The ISP Plant foods is available in a variety of “in-stock” formulations, each designed for somewhat specific purposes.  A part of this targeted crop response is due to the N-P-K components of the blend, but in addition, the trace element aspects are also carefully composed based upon individual plant species requirements.  Custom formulations are also available in 2-ton minimum orders.

22-6-22-2s: Provides a high N and K formula, with potassium being primarily potassium chloride.  It is used to provide a vegetative push on predominantly grasses.

34-4-4-4S: Another high N formulation with supplemental sulfur.  Primarily used on grasses, but can be used anywhere a strong vegetative response is desired.

28-16-7: The high N, or “energy” plant food when just a little vegetative push is desired.  High in trace minerals.

28-16-7 Alfalfa: A key component of our alfalfa program, the trace minerals are designed especially for alfalfa or other legume crops.  Encourages the alfalfa plant to quickly regrow after cutting.

15-30-15: Our primary “pop-up” formulation for corn, sorghum, cotton and some vegetables.  High in trace minerals. Can be placed directly in the seed furrow, or as a 2″x”2″ beside the furrow.

10-45-10: Yet another outstanding “pop-up”, although I used more commonly on beans, or crops that may be sensitive to row-placed sulfur.  It also is commonly used as part of a transplant solution for many vegetable crops.

10-20-20: The primary formulation to encourage fruit set.  High in energy and trace minerals.

9-14-24: Another “‘fruit-set” product, but formulated with additional potassium, magnesium and manganese.  Still very high energy and trace mineral levels.

20-20-20: A general N-P-K blend, often used with gardeners or vegetable growers.  Good trace mineral composition, but not at 10-20-20 levels.

0-36-30: A formulation designed to retard vegetative development, especially on crops such as tomatoes, vine crops, and other vegetables where excessive vegetation may not be positive.

4-18-38: Our primary product for use on vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and others requiring a high level of potassium.  High in trace minerals. 4-18-38 can virtually eliminate yellow shoulder when used as directed.

5-25-25 OS: initially designed for use on onions, the potassium source is predominantly potassium chloride.  It is also of benefit on brassicas, corn and other grasses.

20-5-15 Berry Blend:

17-4-17 Horticultural Blend: Formulated for use on ornamentals, and other plants where overuse of phosphorus is not desirable.
